How to Spend a Weekend
in Blue Mountain
From après-ski to kid-friendly eats, a delicious getaway awaits
In search of an easy, family-friendly weekend away? Collingwood is calling!
Located about two hours north of Toronto, Blue Mountain Resort caters to adventurers, leisure travellers and families alike, offering the perfect place to soak in the beauty of Ontario’s largest mountain village resort, spanning across the Niagara Escarpment.
To help you plan an action-packed itinerary, our team is sharing our favourite things to do (and devour) when a weekend getaway is in order. Read on to explore all that Blue Mountain has to offer!
Hit the Slopes
Ontario winters call for snow-filled activities! Whether you’re a seasoned skier who wants to explore over 365 glistening acres or a first-time snowboarder who wants to learn the ropes (or should we say slopes!), Blue Mountain is the place for you. They’ve got everything you need for a day on the hill, including equipment rentals and in-person programs to learn (or brush up on) your skills.
Don’t Waffle on Breakfast
Fuel an adventure-filled weekend by starting your day at our chic eatery in the upscale Westin Trillium House, Blue Mountain. Enjoy full-service mountain dining seven days a week in our bright, stylish dining room and choose from dishes like eggs Benedict, mushroom huevos rancheros and a classic Canadian breakfast. Kiddos can tuck into a build-your-own parfait, cheddar omelette with home-fried potatoes or a fresh-off-the-iron Belgian waffle. Don’t sleep too late as breakfast wraps up daily at 11:30am.
Pizza, Pints and Pours
Nothing beats a freshly cooked pie with a cold, refreshing pint of your favourite beer! Plan a dinner date if you’re enjoying a romantic weekend or sneak away for a lunch date while the kids are in ski lessons. Once they wrap up, they’re invited to the pizza party, too ― our kids menu even features a pint-sized pepperoni pie! Bonus: swing by from 2–6pm and 9pm to close for Happy Hour deals like 20% off bar bites.
Après Your Way
Once you’ve enjoyed some time outside, get cozy in the spirit of après-ski. O&B Café Grill has no shortage of boozy beverages that will warm you right up, from a Maple Cinnamon Paloma to an Apple Cider Aperol Spritz. If you want to après the booze-free way, allow us to mix up a delicious zero-proof cocktail or two.
Relax to the Max
Open year-round, tourists and locals alike flock to Scandinave Spa. Visiting this ultra-relaxing retreat during the winter months is an extra special treat! Sink into the warm, soothing outdoor thermal baths and feel your stress melt away. Craving some extra me-time? Book a massage with one of their skilled massage therapists.
Make a Scene
Connect with nature at Collingwood’s Scenic Caves, a self-proclaimed winter playground. From cross-country skiing to snowshoeing on the Suspension Footbridge, there are lots of ways to have a snowy adventure. You’ll love exploring the crevices and caverns that only Mother Nature can create. Keep your eye out for Canadian wildlife who call the forest home, including deer, owls, and rabbits!
Treat Yourself in Comfort
Weekends away should mean not lifting a finger. If you’re calling The Westin Trillium House home for a couple days, dine on refined cuisine from the comfort of your room! Kickstart your morning with a SuperFoodsRx™ breakfast menu featuring dishes that will leave you revitalized and recharged. Making it a movie night in or putting your feet up after a long day of exploring? Enjoy Chef Gerry Williams’ diverse choice of appetizers, seafood, steaks, chops, ribs, pasta, fire-roasted pizza, gourmand burgers, and desserts without moving a muscle! Little ones are covered with kids menus designed for small appetites.
With a weekend’s worth of ideas in your pocket, let the planning begin!
